“… I was in the Air Force when I converted to NSA. I went on Tozan 3 times: once with NSA. Once with two pioneer members. And, the last time on my own. Yet, I made a very poor decision to leave the Air Force when I had only 8 years to go. I chose a law school only because it was near the Atlanta community center. I foolishly thought that being near a community center would somehow guarantee success. Well, I ran out of money after the first year of law school. Went back to school to earn another degree; but, failed the CPA exam five times. Now, I am working as a security guard and I am studying to be a paralegal. Had I stayed in the Air Force, I would have retired from that career and I would have received enough to go to law school full time. I have never missed Gongyo and I have been reading the World Tribune without fail since I joined in 1982. I am almost 60 and I am 10 to 15 years behind my peers. Most of them are retiring from jobs and I am still just getting started.

The only thing I can see that has changed, since 1982, is my attitude towards money and men. I no longer see credit cards or boyfriends as the
source of emergency funds.

As much as I have to struggle, I would, now, never consider living with a guy just to make my own life easier. The only things that keep me from thinking that I must be crazy for not giving in and to try to latch onto someone else to make my own life easier are President Ikeda’s and Nichiren Daishonin’s encouragement about overcoming problems through my own efforts based on chanting to the Gohonzon…”

An incredible lack of awareness, insight, and actual proof is exhibited by this woman who has stated again and again there is no benefit outside of the Soka Gakkai and no one can be considered to be chanting, if not an SGI member.
