Happy 2012

Happy New Year from fraughtwithperil.com. We all wish you a health, happy and exciting new year.

I don’t make “resolutions” at this time, but I do make goals for the coming year to add to my ever growing list of on-going goals. It is always interesting which goals I accomplish with positive action and which ones just seem to happen. I’ll look back at my goals and realize I accomplished several of them without even knowing it or even remembering I made the goal. Maybe one of my goals should be to check that list more often.

From the 14th chapter of the Lotus Sutra (Gene Reeves translation 2008)

Bodhisavttvas always delight

In teaching the  Dharma

In a peaceful,

Comforting way.

They teach the fine

And wonderful meaning

Of the Dharma

With a peaceful face.

By these skillful means

They will cause to aspire to awakening,

To advance steadily

And enter the Buddha way.

 After my extinction,

If there are any monks who are able to preach

This Wonderful Dharma Flower Sutra,

They will be free from jealousy and anger,

From distress and obstacles.

This is the spirit of this site – safe and easy practices. I have been noticing lately that many comments do not fit the safe and easy practices.  I suggest that visitors to this site read the 14th chapter of the Lotus Sutra before posting comments. There will always be heated dialogue on this site. But how many of you know the definition of dialogue? Here the definition for Dictionary.com

di·a·logue – an exchange of ideas or opinions on a particular issue, especially a political or religious issue, with a view to reaching an amicable agreement or settlement.

“With a view to reaching an amicable agreement” – that means each person must have an open mind, must listen to the others and be willing to come to an agreement. Coming to an agreement involves adjusting our views or opinions with the addition of opposing views and new information. Please keep this in mind when posting on fraughtwithperil.com.

Thank you,
